VISION OF OUR FUTURE

Meaningful images by several artists powerfully sum up the message and diversity of this year’s FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS on the most famous of Berlin’s landmarks, the Brandenburg Gate. Three renowned Ukrainian video studios are also invited. Exclusively for the festival they created their visions for the future.

1. 4U

“My project is called 4U. It has a double meaning: “for you” and “for Ukraine”. Mankind has faced great challenges in recent years – first a pandemic, now a war in Ukraine, which will cause global shifts all over the world. There is a risk of famine. And it is not known what other challenges await us all in the near future. But I believe that if we unite, we can overcome all difficulties together and support each other. ALL TOGETHER! FOREVER!”

2. RENAISSANCE

“We want to tell a short story about a great friendship between the Ukrainian and German people, thanks to which thousands of Ukrainians have found shelter.”

3. THE POWER OF WORDS

“The future of each of us is the future of all mankind. It is the future in which the most urgent problems of today will be solved. That’s how we see it – a harmonious and healthy society, transition to green energy, development of technologies, unity, freedom, peace – the main goals that each of us face today. Together, we will definitely achieve them.”

6. BLUE HORIZON

His travels and encounters with other people serve as a source of inspiration for Leon Löwentraut, who is only 24 years old. His last stations: Thailand, Madrid, Vienna and Berlin. In Berlin, the view of the symbolic Brandenburg Gate inspired him to create his work BlueHorizon. “I looked at the Brandenburg Gate and thought of my art action “Global Goals”, which is, after all, strongly based on the Brandenburg Gate.

Art is always about freedom, if it’s not free, it can’t unfold. “My painting Blue Horizon, like the Brandenburg Gate, stands for overcoming borders and for togetherness.
