Bunny Rogers’ bronze-cast sculpture Techo Statue (turquoise) (2021) in front of the PalaisPopulaire, created from early sketches, evokes a sense of community and the utopian idea of being able to create beings and entire worlds. Rogers, who was nine when she made the drawings, recalls, “My Neopets were real to me.” Nevertheless, this work, whose figure is reminiscent of gargoyles on Gothic cathedrals, also has the gothic appeal so typical of her work.

The PalaisPopulaire is forum for people who want to experience art, culture in an interdisciplinary way under one roof. To this end, the museum offers a wide-ranging program that brings together diverse aspects of contemporary culture. This includes exhibitions from the Deutsche Bank Collection and presentations of the “Artist of the Year” program. The shows stem from international cooperation partners or private collections. “Populaire,” or “popular,” means that the Palais is open to all without sophistication falling by the wayside.
